I just came across this article by Cliff Brunt of the AP. It is very interesting I think that he points out some valid arguments.
Kickoffs from 30-yard line could create more returns, injuries
NCAA officials expect more excitement — and perhaps more injuries — as kickoffs move back to the 30-yard line for this college football season.
Rules are supposed to keep the players safe, I am not sure how this rule benefits the players.
